Step-by-Step Instructions

Disconnect the negative battery cable and locate the alternator — it is typically on the front of the engine with the serpentine belt wrapped around its pulley.

Release tension on the serpentine belt using a belt tool or breaker bar on the tensioner, and slip the belt off the alternator pulley.

Disconnect the electrical connectors and wiring from the back of the alternator.
