P0341: Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Can you still drive? Use caution. If the engine is stalling or hard to start, avoid driving until the issue is diagnosed. A jumped timing chain can cause severe engine damage.
What Does P0341 Mean?
Code P0341 indicates that the signal from the camshaft position sensor is outside the expected range or is not correlating properly with the crankshaft position sensor signal. The camshaft position sensor tells the ECM the rotational position of the camshaft, which is critical for fuel injection timing and ignition timing on engines with variable valve timing.
Need to read your codes?
An OBD-II scanner lets you read and clear diagnostic trouble codes from your vehicle's computer. Most scanners work with any car made after 1996.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a bad timing chain cause P0341?
Yes, a stretched or jumped timing chain is a common cause of P0341 because it changes the relationship between camshaft and crankshaft positions.
Is P0341 an emergency?
It can be. If the code is caused by a timing chain issue, continued driving could result in catastrophic engine damage on interference engines.
