P0267: Cylinder 3 Injector Circuit Low

HighPowertrainDIY: Moderate

Can you still drive? Drive only short distances. A non-firing cylinder sends unburned fuel into the exhaust, which can quickly damage the catalytic converter.

What Does P0267 Mean?

Code P0267 is set when the ECM detects a lower-than-expected voltage in the cylinder 3 fuel injector circuit. This prevents the injector from opening properly, starving cylinder 3 of fuel. The result is a lean misfire condition on that cylinder.

Need to read your codes?

An OBD-II scanner lets you read and clear diagnostic trouble codes from your vehicle's computer. Most scanners work with any car made after 1996.

Common Causes

  • Failed cylinder 3 fuel injector
  • Broken or corroded wiring to injector
  • Loose injector connector
  • ECM driver circuit failure

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Rough idle
  • Misfire on cylinder 3
  • Loss of power
  • Increased emissions

Diagnostic Steps

  1. 1Check for misfire codes on cylinder 3
  2. 2Measure cylinder 3 injector resistance
  3. 3Inspect injector connector and wiring for damage
  4. 4Swap injector with known good cylinder to isolate fault
  5. 5Test ECM injector driver voltage output

Can a clogged injector cause a low circuit code?

No, a clogged injector is a mechanical issue. P0267 is an electrical circuit code caused by low voltage, not a fuel flow problem.

How much does it cost to replace a fuel injector?

A single fuel injector typically costs $50-$150 for the part, plus $100-$300 in labor depending on accessibility.
