P0113: Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High Input

LowPowertrainDIY: Easy

Can you still drive? Yes, this is a low-severity code. The ECM will use a default temperature value, but fuel efficiency may be slightly affected.

What Does P0113 Mean?

Code P0113 indicates that the intake air temperature sensor is reading an abnormally high voltage, which corresponds to an extremely low temperature reading. The IAT sensor is often integrated into the MAF sensor and provides air temperature data for fuel delivery calculations. A high circuit input typically indicates an open circuit or disconnected sensor.

Need to read your codes?

An OBD-II scanner lets you read and clear diagnostic trouble codes from your vehicle's computer. Most scanners work with any car made after 1996.

Common Causes

  • Disconnected IAT sensor connector
  • Open circuit in sensor wiring
  • Failed IAT sensor
  • Corroded connector pins
  • Damaged wiring harness

Symptoms

  • Check engine light on
  • Slight decrease in fuel economy
  • Engine may run slightly rough when cold
  • Hard starting in very cold weather

Diagnostic Steps

  1. 1Check IAT sensor connector for loose or disconnected connection
  2. 2Measure sensor resistance at various temperatures
  3. 3Test wiring continuity between sensor and ECM
  4. 4Inspect connector pins for corrosion
  5. 5Check if IAT is integrated into MAF sensor

Campaign #26V10400020/02/2026

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021-2026 F-150, 2022-2026 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, F-450 SD, F-550 SD, Maverick, 2024-2026 Ranger, 2023-2026 F-600 SD, 2022-2027 Lincoln Navigator, Expedition, and 2026 E-Transit vehicles. When towing a trailer, the integrated trailer module (ITRM) may lose communication with the vehicle, possibly causing a loss of brake and turn signal lights, or a loss of brake function. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Remedy: The integrated trailer module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 17, 2026. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26C10. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning March 17, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the intake air temperature sensor?

The IAT sensor is typically located in the air intake duct or integrated into the mass airflow sensor. Check your vehicle service manual for the exact location.

Can a disconnected plug cause P0113?

Yes, a disconnected IAT sensor connector is the most common cause of P0113. Check the connector first before replacing any parts.
